La Délicatesse

I’m pretty fortunate to have the Pasadena Laemmle Theater literally a few blocks away from where I live. A quick 2 minute walk and I’m there.  The Laemmle Theater carries various independent and foreign films and many French films are shown here, so I went to watch La Délicatesse (Delicacy in the English version), starring Audrey Tautou and Fançois Damiens.

The start of the movie is rather sad, for it’s about a French woman who loses her husband to an accident, but the movie tells the story of how she learns to love again. It’s comedic with François Damiens, a Swedish quirky colleague, and it’s always cute with Audrey Tautou.

The level of French is not too difficult in the conversations, but I found that they do speak rather fast. I’ve had times where I had difficulty hearing what they were saying and had to rely on the subtitles, but that’s how it is colloquially, right?  I think I need to find more movies to watch.  Anyone have any French favorites to share?
